Question 1

What is Trostpflaster?

Accepted Answer

Trostpflaster is a simple reward system for practices: after the appointment, the practice team hands the child a token. The child drops the token into the capsule toy vending machine, turns the handle and receives a toy capsule with a little surprise inside.

Question 2

How does the capsule toy vending machine work?

Accepted Answer

The machine is entirely mechanical. Insert the token, turn the handle, take out the capsule. There's no electronics, no display and no software.

Question 3

Why are tokens used?

Accepted Answer

Tokens let the practice decide who gets a capsule. The machine isn't freely usable by passers-by, and handing over the token turns the reward into a personal gesture from the team.

Question 4

Which practices is the system suitable for?

Accepted Answer

For any practice that regularly treats children or where children come along as company – for example dental, paediatric, GP, ENT, ophthalmology, orthopaedic and dermatology practices.

Question 5

Is the system only suitable for dentists?

Accepted Answer

No. It originated in dental practices, but the concept works the same way in every specialism.

Question 6

Is it also suitable for paediatricians?

Accepted Answer

Yes. In paediatric practices, the token is typically handed over after an examination or vaccination.

Question 7

Can the machine also be used in general medical practices?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The machine needs neither power nor a network connection and can be placed in almost any waiting or reception area.
